Scholarship amounts are awarded annually. Renewal may be possible if there is continued alignment with Hive principles, academic progress, and sufficient available funding.
Yes. Each child must submit their own application and essay. Families with multiple children enrolled in eligible schools are encouraged to apply individually for each student.
Applications are reviewed by an independent selection panel using a structured scoring rubric. Students are evaluated on their academic performance, character, leadership, creativity, and alignment with our mission to support bright futures.
Students may receive a Hive Scholarship once per academic year. Previous recipients are welcome to reapply annually, and strong past performance may be considered—but each year’s selection is competitive and independent.
Yes. Because each year’s applicants are evaluated fresh, a new application—including updated academic records and essay—is required annually for consideration.

No. All scholarships are single-year awards. While previous winners may have a strong chance of being selected again, they must go through the standard application and evaluation process each year.
All applications are reviewed by a third-party panel of educators and leaders using a consistent scoring rubric. We do not accept influence from donors, board members, or families during the review process.
No. To maintain fairness and IRS compliance as a 501(c)(3), donors may not earmark their contributions for specific individuals, including their own children. All scholarships are awarded based on a competitive, merit-based evaluation process.
In most cases, no. Scholarships used for qualified education expenses—like tuition and required fees—are not considered taxable income by the IRS. However, if funds are used for non-qualified expenses like room and board, travel, or optional materials, that portion may be taxable. We recommend consulting with a tax professional for your specific situation. swer to this item.
